Here’s How It Works
1. Site Visit and Surface Assessment
We visit and assess every room in scope, noting surface type, existing paint system, and any period features requiring individual preparation. Lime plaster, gypsum plaster, and new plasterboard each need a different primer.
2. Preparation
Cracks are filled, loose plaster is stabilised, and surfaces are sanded back. Original lime plaster gets a breathable primer. New plasterboard gets a dedicated primer rather than diluted emulsion. This phase takes longer on period properties and is included in the quote.
3. Paint Application
Ceilings are painted first, then walls, then woodwork. This sequence keeps drips off finished surfaces. Each coat is allowed adequate drying time between applications.
4. Period Feature Care
Cornicing, ceiling roses, picture rails, original skirting boards, and architraves are hand-cut. Where mouldings have accumulated paint build-up, we work back the profile before cutting in the new colour.
5. Final Walkthrough
We check all surfaces in good light before leaving. Any missed spots, uneven coverage, or paint on surfaces it should not be on are corrected, and we walk through every completed room with you.
